Centurion Canoe Club has introduced a river league. The winner of the league will be crowned Centurion River Paddler of the year.

The league consists of 14 races. 6 local and 8 regional. 5 of your best races count.

Points for races are calculated based on your time in relation to the winning time. To calculate the points for the race, take the cutoff time (1.75 x winning time) and subtract your time. Divide this number by the cutoff time less the winning time x 100.

For example, winners time 60 min, your time 80 min, cut off will be 105 min = (105 - 80)/(105-60) = 25/45 x 100 = 55 points.

The rules are as follows:
  • The best 3 K1 results count
  • The best 2 K2 Results count
  • A total of 5 of you best races to count for the League
  • At least one of the races must be a multi day race
  • K2 results will only count if it is officially a K2 race
  • The winner is the person with the highest total at the end of the season.
The league standings will be updated regularly on the website.

The selected races will change each year with the emphasis placed on the Centurion races, major races (SA K1 and SA K2 river champs) and then local races. There is a spread of races from flat water (9-Miler) to very technical (Lowveld Croc). The race distances also have a spread from relatively short to multi day events. Included are races with no portages and races with long hard portages, therefore we believe that in the selection there should be something to suite and to challenge everybody.
